Nidhivan, also known as Madhuban, is one of the most mystical and sacred places in Vrindavan, located in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Deeply associated with Lord Krishna’s divine Ras Leela with Radha and the gopis, this lush garden exudes a spiritual aura that draws millions of devotees and curious visitors.
According to local belief and the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition:
Every night after the last aarti, the temple gates are closed.
It is believed that Lord Krishna along with Radha and gopis perform the Ras Leela here at midnight.
No one is allowed to stay inside Nidhivan after dusk.
Those who have dared to stay overnight have reportedly gone mad, blind, or deaf, or haven’t lived to tell the tale.
The shrubs and trees in Nidhivan are unique—they appear intertwined in pairs, symbolizing the gopis. The Tulsi plants, too, are believed to turn into maidens at night.
Rang Mahal: ' ' A small temple-like structure inside Nidhivan where Krishna is believed to rest after Ras Leela. It is decorated every evening with a bed, water, neem datun, and sweets, which appear mysteriously disturbed the next morning.
The twisted trees and bushes grow mysteriously in pairs and remain green year-round.
Peacocks and monkeys are commonly seen, adding to the surreal ambiance.
