Kesi Ghat is one of the most revered and scenic ghats in Vrindavan, located on the banks of the sacred Yamuna River in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh. This spiritual site is deeply associated with the life and pastimes of Lord Krishna, specifically the slaying of the demon Keshi, sent by the evil king Kansa to kill the young Krishna.
According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna vanquished the horse demon Keshi here and then bathed in the holy Yamuna River to purify himself. Thus, the ghat is named βKesi Ghatβ in honor of this divine act. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip at this ghat absolves one of sins and brings them closer to Moksha (liberation).
Yamuna Aarti: Held every evening, the aarti is a spectacular spiritual event with chanting, lamps, conches, and flowers offered to Goddess Yamuna.
Historic Ghatside Architecture: The area features ancient temples, arched gateways, and beautifully carved stone steps.
Pilgrimage Destination: Part of the traditional Vrindavan Parikrama, especially crowded during Kartik month and Radha Ashtami.
Photography & Sunset Views: The reflection of temples and lamps in the Yamuna during sunset draws photographers and spiritual seekers alike.
