Angry scenes continue at IndiGo counters across Indian airports as hundreds of flights face delays and cancellations, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. The problems have led to the cancellation of nearly 1,000 flights in the last few days as services were delayed at various airports and operational disruptions continued for the fourth consecutive day.
IndiGo announced that all flights from Delhi have been cancelled till midnight 11:59 today. In another update, Chennai airport also shared a list of cancelled flights for today, where all the flights were from IndiGo.
In Bengaluru, at least 102 IndiGo flights were cancelled early on Friday (December 5, 2025) at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) as disruptions continued for the fourth consecutive day. In Goa, IndiGo cancelled 30 domestic flights from Goa airport in the morning. The Dabolim airport, managed by the AAI, in a post on X, said that 30 IndiGo flights to cities, including Bengaluru, Surat, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Indore, Mumbai and Bhopal, have been cancelled since Friday morning.
In an official statement yesterday, IndiGo said operations will normalise in the next 48 hours. “Our teams are working around the clock to ease customer discomfort and ensure operations stabilise as quickly as possible,” the airline said while apologising to passengers. According to PTI, other airports affected included Mumbai (85 flights), Hyderabad (68), Chennai (31). However, as per a PTI report, IndiGo on Thursday informed aviation regulator DGCA that it will reduce flights from December 8 and stable flight operations will be fully restored by February 10, 2026.
Providing a relief, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked its inspectors to operate IndiGo flights. DGCA hires pilots on contract for five years during which they act as auditors and are barred to operate for any airline.
Considering the IndiGo crisis, the regulator has now relaxed multiple clauses in the new pilots rest rules including where there was a cap on the number of landings a pilot can during night hours. DGCA has further allowed airlines to club leaves taken by pilots with tenure of mandatory weekly rest.
View Ayodhya Tour PackageIn an official statement, IndiGo apologised for the situation. "We do deeply apologise and understand how difficult the past few days have been for many of you. While this will not get resolved overnight, we assure you that we will do everything in our capacity to help you in the meantime and to bring our operations back to normal at the earliest."
